History:
Holmes was born in 1854, he had been know to be cold at times, but when on a hot trail of a mystery, Holmes can display a remarkable passion despite his usual languor amazing as that is. He has been know to be flair for showmanship & often prepares dramatic traps to capture the culprit of a crime which are staged to impress that for many times was Watson or one of the Scotland Yard inspectors. Been know to holds back his chain of reasoning, not revealing it or giving only cryptic hints and surprising results, until the very end, when he can explain all of his deductions at once.
He also is quite an actor, in several of his adventures & cases, he has feigned being wounded, ill to give effect to his case, or to incriminate the people involved. Few have ever out witted Holmes & to this day there has only every truly been one woman to do so. He is very prodded to be British, working for his Queen & his government on more then one. Being know for his ego & his ego is on the line of crossing as well as on the border of arrogance but, even with such an ego it is normally justified.
For the most part, he seems to enjoy baffling police inspectors & others with his superior deductions. However, most the time he is often quite content to allow the police to take the credit for his work, with few ever know the hole truth about the matter.
Homes lives at 221B Baker Street & has a good income of money, threw many things that he does such as solving cases & that.
He has been know to refuse clients are, wealthy & powerful if their cases did not interest him, while he could devote weeks at a time to the cases of the most humble clients. He has the tracking skills of a blood hound or so it appears the way he tracks his assailants. He has worded for powerful monarchs and governments in all of Europe.
Fear is not something that is truly ever seen in Holmes, more so a steady head & a clear mind when in danger or trouble. He has survived many treats on his life, he has seen dispassionately surveys horrific, brutal crime scenes; but he does not allow superstition or grotesque situations to make him afraid; and he intrepidly confronts violent murderers. He is generally unfazed by threats from his criminal enemies, and indeed Holmes himself remarks that it is the danger of his profession that has attracted him to it. The only thing that truly bothers Holmes is boredom, and he can become very agitated and upset when there is no case set before him.
Holmes has been know to use many weapons in his cases such as pistoles, riding crops, canes, single stick, sword, sword cane, fist fighter & hand to hand as well as baritsu, or the Japanese system of wrestling, he also does marshal arts, as well as a few other things not heard of greatly. He does not have many true friends, such as Dr. Watson & at times Inspector Lestrade of Scootland Land Yard.
Holmes is know to be in active practice for twenty-three years, in witch & during seventeen of these years, Watson "was allowed to cooperate with him and to keep notes of his doings. After some years Watson's marriage in 1887 and after Mrs. Watson's death. The residence of baker street was maintained by his landlady, Mrs. Hudson.
Holmes sometimes criticizes Watson for his writings, usually because he relates them as exciting stories rather than as objective and detailed reports focusing on what Holmes regards as the pure "science" of his craft, not the what makes it sound better or greater.
He has an older brother by the name of Mycroft Holmes, a government official that he does not see often. His brother Mycroft, has a unique civil service position as a kind of memory-man for all aspects of government policy — a kind of walking database. Sherlock for the most part thinks Mycroft is more gifted but not a man of action, preferring to spend his time at the Diogenes Club, described as a club for the most un-clubbable men in London.
It is rumored that Holm's grandmother is the sister of Vernet, the French artist. At times Holmes is assisted by a group of street children that he calls the Baker Street Irregulars, that he came to care for & respected for they help. He treats them with surprising kindness, for he shown little interest in children at all outside of cases involving them. He also speaks of them with a certain respect, due to the fact that, in the stories in which they appear, they are quite literally capable of going anywhere and seeing and hearing virtually anything, thus giving him increased ability to solve cases by taking in their reports. He pays the boys for their services, offering bonuses to any boy (or boys) who found a vital clue in the case.
He usually baffles the police with his far more efficient and effective methods, showing himself to be a vastly superior detective, a fact that the police seem to have learned to take with good grace after many years or perhaps months, for it is had to truly say when they started to respected him greatly other then with Inspector Lestrade.
The has only been one woman to whom Holmes ever showed any interest that verged on the romantic was Irene Adler. According to Watson, she was always referred to by Holmes as "The Woman." Holmes himself is never directly quoted as using this term — though he does mention her actual name several times in other cases. The woman as she is called, also is one if the only women who is mentioned in multiple Holmes stories, though she actually appears in one case that Holmes solved. She is often thought to be the only woman who broke through Holmes reserve. She is possibly the only woman who has ever "beaten" Holmes in a mystery.
Holmes was engaged to be married, at one time but only with the motivation of gaining information for his case. He has been known to clearly demonstrates particular interest in several of the more charming female clients that come his way. How ever Holmes, inevitably "manifested no further interest in the client when once she had ceased to be the centerer of one of his problems."
Holmes found their youth, beauty, and energy invigorating, as opposed to an actual romantic interest. He appears to only joy he gets from woman is the cases they bring him, but it is said that he told Waltson once that, had he ever feel in love with a lady & his lady die at the hand of another, he would seek the man out for revenge. It is also said that not showing much interesting women makes him, something positively inhuman in you at times.
It is said that Mrs. Hudson is fond of Holmes in her own way, despite Holmes his bothersome eccentricities as a lodger, to his "remarkable gentleness and courtesy in his dealings with women. Despite what appears to be a dislikes and distrusts in them, he is nonetheless a "chivalrous opponent & cannot be said to be seen as real a misogynistic, given the number of women he helps in his work.
It is also has been know to look upon himself as a disembodied brain, but there are times when he can become very emotional in a righteous cause. Such as the harm as a child or that, beneath his cold mask he can have a depth of loyalty and love which is almost heard of. His deduction, is as important to him, where attempt to eliminate all other possibilities, or as many as possible. It is said that when Holmes went over the Reichenbach Falls, he was not killed, but he was never quite the same man after or at least many say. But only he holds the key to all that has happened.
Holmes most common saying is "How often have I said to you that when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth?" he is know for this more commonly for in the end it is very true.
